Approximately 85% of buyers and sellers now use the internet as their primary means of conducting property searches. As far as property sales and lettings are concerned, the days of High Street ‘window shopping’ are gone. While most High Street estate agents do now use web sites such as Right Move, Prime Location and Find A Property to market their customers’ properties, in our experience, very few have the time, the knowledge or the inclination to exploit the technology and resulting data to maximum effect.
Our up-to-the-minute software allows us to give you regular in-depth analysis of the statistics behind the web pages – for example, how many and what type of people are viewing your property details – which enables us to work together to achieve the best possible marketing strategy for your home. It also allows us to communicate with both landlords and tenants far more quickly through use of emailed invoices and statements. Google Earth and Google Street View are integrated into all of our online details as a matter of course.

Our two offices work closely together and ensure all of our properties whether for sales of lettings get maximum exposure.
East Devon Sales and Lettings Team
Our East Devon team are based in two of the oldest buildings in Topsham, right in the heart of the community on Fore Street, one office is dedicated to residential sales (No. 71), the other to residential lettings and commercial property management (No. 61).
Chris’s background in estate agency started in London in the 1990’s where he worked for some of the most successful agencies in Chelsea and Kensington. Having originally been brought up in Exeter he moved back with his family to Woodbury, just outside Exeter, in 2004, working for some of the traditional agencies before joining forces in 2010 with Ian Garcia to form East of Exe. Chris has an amazing encylopedic knowledge of the local area and in depth understanding of how to sell property effectively.
Lettings Co-ordinator for East Devon
Emma joined East of Exe in august 2016 originally in our Exeter office in a maternity cover role; but her experience within the rental market was clear so she soon progressed to become responsible for managing our lettings in the Topsham branch. Emma is NALS qualified and brings with her 7 years of experience within the lettings market. Having grown up in Muswell Hill, North London were she managed the nearby Enfield office of Foxtons, Emma recently moved down to Devon with her husband and her friendly and professional manner ensures the letting process goes smoothly for landlords and tenants.
Sara has been with East of Exe since its inception in 2010 and manages all matters financial both for our sales and administration teams. Based out of our Topsham office Sara lives locally with her family and keeps our systems and accounts up to date through our computerised accounting systems.
East Devon Sales and Lettings Administrator
Tilly is a key member of our East Devon team, being responsible for sales & lettings administration as well as supporting our valuation and sales teams in client and applicant management. She has lived in Topsham for 10 years now and has recently purchased her first home with her partner that they are currently in the process of renovating. Tilly joined East of Exe in 2017 bringing with her over 6 years of in depth knowledge and experience from within the industry, her friendly and professional manner makes her the perfect first point of contact for all customers.

Ellie’s been with the business since we started in 2010, and now has pride of place in her “fireplace kennel” in the lettings department at our Topsham office. She is probably the most laid back and smallest black Labrador you’ll ever come across and is welcoming to tenants, landlords and all the other visitors we get. If you’re passing though and want to say hi to her just pop in as she’s always after a cuddle.
Exeter Sales and Lettings Team
Based in Southernhay, probably the financial centre of Exeter, our light and airey offices have now been open since 2013 and service not only Exeter itself, but also surrounding villages and towns including properties West of the River Exe.
Ian’s background is as a professional marketer and successful entrepreneur having run a medium size marketing agency in the South East in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Moving down with his family to Topsham in 2005, Ian continued to provide specialist marketing and construction services before teaming up with Chris Taylor to start East of Exe. Ian’s skills are in ensuring properties are marketed as effectively as possible, but has used his building knowledge to head up the lettings and commercial sides of the business.
Exeter Sales Manager
Jo joined East of Exe in 2015 and takes responsibility for all the sales in our Exeter branch. She brings with her almost 20 years of experience in the industry, having worked for a select few agents within Exeter over the years. She lives with her husband and 2 young children in Topsham and was born and brought up locally so has excellent local knowledge.
Lettings Co-ordinator for Exeter & West Devon
Beckie joined East of Exe in 2014 and brought with her a great deal of experience in the Exeter lettings market. She was brought up locally and has recently bought her first house in Exeter so knows the area well. Her personable manner and professional approach has made her very popular with landlords and tenants, which has resulted in our Exeter lettings operation becoming one of the fastest growing in the local area.
Jessica joined East of Exe in 2013, helping to manage our sales instructions within the Topsham office. Her combination of amazing photography skills and friendly approachable manner makes her the ideal resource as the first point of contact for potential vendors. Jessica is also responsible for creating our eye catching brochures and having been born and brought up locally she has an in depth knowledge of the local area and housing stock.
Exeter Sales and Lettings Administrator
Katie is the newest addition to our company. Joining us in 2017, she brought with her 2 years of previous lettings experience whilst recently obtaining a diploma in interior design. Having lived locally for some time, Katie has a good understanding of Exeter and knows the area well. Her friendly and efficient manor makes her the perfect first point of call for all our potential landlords and applicants.
