Ambitious Exeter city centre plans aim to provide economic boost
The housing market often reflects the economy of the local area, so the latest proposals for Exeter’s city centre area will give a welcome shot in the arm for demand for homes in East Devon. Plans recently revealed by Exeter city council say:
- new shops, offices and a bus station near the John Lewis store;
- a four-star hotel, a new square and an additional budget hotel;-
- possibly a 1,200-seat theatre and performance space.
The proposals may cost as much as £300m if they come to fruition, with most of the income from private investors. Some 400 new jobs could be created – a welcome boost for the local economy and the area’s housing market
