SALES NEWS: Canny buyers may find less competition this spring
This might be exactly the right time for shrewd buyers to purchase a home, as housing market analysts say there will be less competition than usual in the next two months.
Predictions from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, property portal Rightmove and mortgage lender Halifax all suggest that at least some buyers will now wait until after the result of the European referendum.
This means that those who choose to go ahead with a purchase now may have fewer rival buyers than usual.
The forecasts say that ahead of general elections, demand for homes dip slightly – and the same is expected ahead of the referendum. In addition, buy to let landlords who were very active in the early part of the year, interested mostly in smaller properties, are unlikely to be out in force following the introduction of higher stamp duty on buy to let homes.
