LETTINGS NEWS :- Government unveils more new rules for the rental sector
It’s been almost non-stop change in the private rental sector in recent years and now the government has revealed more new regulations and laws. Details will come later this year but from some point in 2018 these new policies come into effect: all landlords must join an approved Ombudsman-style redress scheme; there will be incentives to offer tenants longer tenancies; all letting agents must be registered before starting operating. While these new rules aim to improve consumer protection for both tenants and landlords, they add to an already-complex landscape. Around 400 regulations and pieces of law already apply to the private rental sector – a very clear reason why landlords are advised to instruct good quality local letting agencies to handle all aspects of renting out property.
