LETTINGS NEWS:- More changes afoot for landlords and tenants in the rental market

The government announced more changes to private rental sector rules over Christmas. Some proposals still need to be approved by parliament but the key measures include:

  • extra licensing for homes let to multiple tenants in different households;
  • minimum space requirements for some types of private lettings;
  • a database where landlords who break the rules can be identified.

The private rental market remains a good investment in areas with strong local economies and good education such as Exeter. However, additional regulations make it more vital than ever that new and existing landlords alike use experienced letting agents to keep their properties legal, safe and profitable.
