LETTINGS NEWS:- Private rental tenancies set to get longer

12/07/18

It looks increasingly likely that the typical length of tenancies in the private rental sector will become longer. The government has issued a consultation document which proposes:

  • landlords and letting agents offer three year tenancies;
  • a ‘break clause’ will allow tenant or landlord to stop after six month
  • tenancies for students may be exempted from the three-year duration

The aim of the change is to make tenants feel more secure in their home, and to encourage more families to rent. This is one of many changes happening in the private rental sector right now – pop in for a chat to talk them through if you’re either a current landlord or one thinking of going into the rewarding buy to let sector.
