LETTINGS NEWS: University figures show student rental potential
Exeter’s buy to let market is relatively strong thanks to corporate relocations and a growing number of professional renters, but new figures from the city’s university show the potential for student letting, too.
The university’s student population has grown from 12,930 back in 2005 to 19,325 at the end of last year.
The biggest rise has been in international undergraduates, who have shown a five-fold rise from under 500 in 2004 to 2,499 now. In addition, overseas postgraduates have doubled in number in that time.
International students, unlike their domestic counterparts, typically require rented accommodation year-round instead of only at term time.
