Property beats cash savings over the past decade

With interest rates at record lows for almost a decade, saving has been a tough business: however, new government figures show property prices have risen substantially in that time, despite the economic downturn. A south west homes cost £2,175 per square metre back in 2007; 10 years on it costs almost £2,500 per square metre; that’s a rise of very nearly 15 per cent. Although property prices can go down as well as up, bricks and mortar remains a solid long term investment for owner occupiers and landlords alike.
