SALES NEWS: 2017 may be the perfect year for a move – with expert help
Experts ranging from economic forecasters to business consultancies and estate agents say the housing market in 2017 is unlikely to see major price movements.
A string of forecasts from organisations like Price Waterhouse Coopers and the Centre for Economics and Business Research suggest house prices will remain roughly static during the year, varying only one or two per cent up or down, including in the south west region.
However, most analysts believe the total number of people moving home will fall below the 2016 level as Brexit negotiations, jobs announcements and Britain’s success at negotiating new trade deals – all uncertain for the moment – will influence the mood of the economy.
So if you spend Christmas considering whether to sell, buy or both, one factor is key.
That is, you should talk with estate agents ‘on the ground’ for advice on the local market, the best time to put a home on sale, and the most appropriate marketing strategy to take advantage of a 2017 market which will require even more expert guidance than usual.
