SALES NEWS: A buyer will make up their mind to buy your house within a few minutes
It sounds like a cliché but when it comes to selling your home, first impressions really do count – and now there is evidence to prove it.
A survey of 1,000 buyers by house builder Harron Homes reveals that over 43 per cent of buyers make up their minds whether to make an offer on a home for sale within five minutes of arriving; another 40 per cent make up their minds within 15 minutes.
The biggest turn-offs outside a property are outdated, untidy or dirty appearances including overgrown gardens, shoddy paintwork or unswept leaves on a driveway.
Once inside, deterrents to buyers making an offer are pet smells, unfinished DIY jobs, too much personal clutter, and rooms used for storage rather than their intended purpose.
Buyers are also keen to see the maximum number of photographs of a property when its details are put on an estate agent’s website and property portals.
