SALES NEWS: Awards provide a boost for Exeter and East Devon housing market
Recent awards and announcements have consolidated the successful reputation of Exeter and East Devon – a reputation that goes hand-in-hand with a strong housing market.
In the culinary world, Topsham’s Salutation Inn has won the prestigious Food and Travel Magazine readers’ award; its fine dining restaurant has also featured for the first time in the new 2017 Good Food Guide, along with the restaurant at Exeter’s Abode hotel.
Meanwhile, Exeter School has won awards for Physics and Foreign Languages in the 2017 Good Schools Guide, a publication marking excellence in individual subjects. One of Exeter’s premier girls’ schools, Maynard’s, scored a remarkable 66% of pupils achieving A* and A grades at GCSE this year, making it one of Britain’s top performing schools.
For good measure, it has been announced that work will begin in March to redevelop the Exeter bus station site. There will be a new city centre cinema, restaurants, cafes, shops, public square and a large leisure centre including two swimming pools, a gym and a sauna, alongside a new bus station. Work will be complete by the end of 2018.
