SALES NEWS: Exeter wins high praise in Sunday Times list of UK Best Places
Exeter has won outspoken praise and has been named as one of the UK’s ‘Best Places To Live’ according to the annual Sunday Times survey of cities, towns and villages.
“Could there be a more perfectly positioned city?” the newspaper asks, having categorised Exeter as one of the ‘perennial favourites’ in the country – sharing the same category as larger and internationally-renowned locations such as Bath, Cambridge and even Mayfair.
The newspaper notes that Exeter is the fastest-growing city in the UK in terms of newcomers from elsewhere in the country, thanks to its location with “two National Parks and plenty of plum coastline on the doorstep.”
The Sunday Times also praises good road and rail links to the city, the ultra-fast broadband available to around 90 per cent of homes and what it calls “superior brands” – a string of up-market new restaurants just opened in the city centre’s Food Quarter.
It signs off by describing Exeter as “a glorious gateway to the west – and handy for points east, as well.” Naturally, all of us at East of Exe are inclined to agree…
