SALES NEWS: Premiums for homes near supermarkets

07/04/15

The average price of a home within easy reach of a national-chain supermarket is around seven per cent higher compared to other areas in the same town, according to research by Lloyds Bank.

There’s a pecking order of supermarkets: homes near Sainsbury’s attract higher premiums than those near Tesco, while Waitrose has the biggest premium of all adding 12 per cent to the typical price. Exeter is well-placed with over 20 national chain supermarkets plus express outlets at garages and in the city centre.

The good news is that Lloyds says these premiums are set to increase as parking issues and the growing fashion for home baking make close proximity to supermarkets even more desireable.
