SALES NEWS: The best place to retire? It’s Devon, of course
Devon is the best place in the UK in which to retire – and that’s official.
A study by the Prudential insurance company has assessed life expectancy, crime and the availability of care. Devon came out a clear winner.
On average a man now aged 65 and living in Devon could expect to live another 20 years. A woman who is now 65 is predicted to live even longer, until she is nearly 88.
Devon has a relatively low total of 50 crimes annually per 1,000 people, which is well below the national average of almost 57.
The county also comes out top in terms of numbers of carers and care organisations.
Dorset, just over the border from east Devon, came second in the survey.
