New indices looking at the housing market show stable prices and rents as the autumn sales season gets underway – and they reveal a chance for shrewd sellers to take advantage of a shortage of homes up for sale. The latest snapshots show: UK house price inflation is 2.6% per year says the Halifax, Rents are unchanged from a year ago according to lettings group ARL, Estate agents have only 35 homes to sell but have 347 registered buyers. This last figure, from the National Association of Estate Agents, represents a real opportunity for sellers who can put their home on the market early this Autumn. They will face fewer other homes competing for buyers’ attention, and so significantly improving their chances of selling quickly and being in a new property in time for Christmas.
